Safety Guidelines
Kin gives you simple controls so you can decide who to talk to, what to share and when to leave. Trust your instincts; you do not need to justify ending a conversation.
Leave when you want
Press NEXT to move on from a conversation. You can also leave through the home control or stop searching. In a lounge, you can leave without waiting for the room to empty.
Report clearly
Use Report in the top bar or the flag on a person's tile. Choose the closest reason—nudity, harassment, hate, someone who appears under 18, spam or something else—and add a short note if useful. Reports are anonymous and may contribute to restrictions or bans.
Share less than you think
Kin does not display your real name, but avoid sharing your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number, passwords or social handles. Do not move a conversation off Kin just because someone asks.
Text is designed to stay lightweight
Chat supports text and emoji. Links and files are removed, so do not ask people to bypass that protection or send sensitive information in a message.
Audio and video are your choice
Voice and video require browser permission. Video asks you to confirm before the camera starts, and you can turn your microphone or camera off whenever you want. Never show anything on camera that you would not want a stranger to see.
If someone may be in immediate danger
Kin is not an emergency service. Contact local emergency services or a trusted person who can help. Report the account on Kin when it is safe to do so.
